Love it or hate it, the big thing you've probably heard about this release was that initially it was put out with a lo-fi transfer on the Blu-ray disc. It happens. Blu-rays have error and the reviewers find them and then then everyone fixes them (if you're lucky). I did receive one of the initial lo-fi copies of Toxie 2, and I've also had the chance to enjoy the second-coming, corrected and looking just great especially for a Troma movie. There's nothing to fear. You can order Toxic Avenger 2 now on Blu-ray and fear nothing. Perhaps watch the resale market just in case somebody didn't get the memo. That should address the elephant in the room. The disc is loaded with fun, Troma extras which are perfectly irreverent and almost make fun of the concept of extras. It's what these guys do well. The case is bright green and the artwork is traditional. It's exactly what you'd want to see in HD release of the sequel to Troma's flagship.
Obviously from a content perspective I dislike a good amount of the movie, but it still contains the fights you want to see and the outrageous action sequences complete with low budget effects that really pop. That's why you watch Troma. Hell, I'll admit that I can watch the good bits from Toxie 2, but it's the connective story line that drags for me. Getting to Tokyo and the search. Is it possible that my attention span has sunk so low as to have trouble watching even a classic piece of Troma history? Perhaps the reality TV boom has shrunk my neurons like a pair of testicles doing the ice bucket challenge.
Most of you can ignore that last paragraph because you already know that you want to watch this movie again with a solid transfer, you just wanted to make sure the bugs were worked out. The bugs are worked out. The Blu-ray is now ready for your "discerning eyes".
