HOLIDAYS Hitting VOD (April 15th) and Limited Theatrical Release (April 22nd)

Holiday Horror has been hitting big over the last couple of years and on every level too. We've seen successful independent and mainstream release holiday Horror, and while the focus seems to be either Halloween or Christmas, that's slowly changing as well. April 15th brings  a new anthology based flick called... wait for it... HOLIDAYS to VOD. I had trouble nailing down who would be doing which holiday, so I enlisted the internet on this one.

Courtesy of Wiki:

Valentine's Day (directed by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch)
St. Patrick's Day (directed by Gary Shore)
Easter (directed by Nicholas McCarthy) starring Ava Acres[5]
Mothers' Day (directed by Sarah Adina Smith, starring (Jennifer Lafleur)
Fathers' Day (directed by Anthony Scott Burns)
Christmas (directed by Scott Stewart)
Hollow Ian (directed by Kevin Smith) starring Harley Morenstein, Harley Quinn Smith, Ashley Greene and Liv Roush.
New Years Eve (directed by Adam Egypt Mortimer) starring Lorenza Izzo and Andrew Bowen.

Looks to be a well rounded, though somewhat "done" list of holidays. I think most of us are looking for Eli Roth's Thanksgiving or perhaps a new Labor Day or Memorial Day Horror picture, but check out that director list! Some high quality names on there. I must admit that I have one fear. I know that this is an anthology filled with a series of vignettes, but 8 for one movie is perhaps stretching it. Tales of Halloween killed me with 10 stories in one movie. I actually leave out a movie like ABC's of Death and its sequel because the novelty is the telling of a super short Horror picture.  The new age of portmanteau suggests that we pack the damn bag too full to create cohesive stories that don't feel rushed. Let's see if this one proves me wrong.

Check out the full release and trailer below. Isn't that poster great? There's a more tame one out there that looks just like every other goddamn poster, but let's hope it lives up to THIS one.

From Vertical Entertainment and XYZ Films:

Vertical Entertainment and XYZ Films have partnered to acquire the global distribution of the horror anthology HOLIDAYS, which was produced by John Hegeman’s Distant Corners Entertainment in association with XYZ Films. The film will have its world premiere at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival on April 14th. The companies will coordinate a global day-and-date release, which will begin the next day on April 15th with worldwide digital and VOD platforms followed by a targeted U.S. theatrical release on April 22nd. This will be one of the first global launches of a day-and-date independent film campaign following a festival world premiere.
