THE BYE BYE MAN Opens June 3rd; Don't Think. Don't Say It.

I'm torn. THE BYE BYE MAN trailer looks pretty interesting that suggests a hefty supernatural based Horror picture that features, at least in part, some guy in a cloak doing his best grim reaper impersonation. I like that kind of imagery. Then I read the notes on the release and find out that its from the producer of the same fella who did The Strangers and Oculus. The Strangers is a great home invasion Horror film that freaked me out, freaked my wife and basically made it so that watching home invasion Horror was actually bad for me mentally. I enjoy The Strangers. Oculus... well... I love the first 20 to 30 minutes of that picture before becoming completely dis-enamored with it. I didn't like the ending, I didn't enjoy the strange time-play. That movie was a big disagreement between the Horror community and me.

Then I start thinking about the synopsis combined with some of the imagery in the trailer and I say two words, "It Follows". Really it's more of a question. Is this going to be another It Follows, a movie I adore, but that could be imitated poorly?

Give the trailer a look and let me know what you think?

From STX Entertainment:

People commit unthinkable acts every day. Time and again, we grapple to understand what drives a person to do such terrible things. But what if all of the questions we're asking are wrong? What if the source of all evil is not a matter of what...but who?

From the producer of The Strangers and Oculus comes The Bye Bye Man, a chilling horror-thriller that exposes the evil behind the most unspeakable acts committed by man.

When three college friends stumble upon the horrific origins of the Bye Bye Man, they discover that there is only one way to avoid his curse: don't think it, don't say it. But once the Bye Bye Man gets inside your head, he takes control. Is there a way to survive his possession?
