The best builds for Kazuha in Genshin Impact

Want a strong build for Kazuha in Genshin Impact? The Anemo swordsman is finally back for a rerun in Genshin Impact 2.8 and will feature alongside Klee and the new four-star character, Heizou. It's honestly strange that it's taken Kazuha so long to get another rerun considering he's had a lot of screen time in recent quests. It looks like version 2.8 will be no different, exploring a little more of his backstory.

Besides Xiao and Venti, he's also one of the strongest Anemo characters in the game, with a satisfying playstyle based around combo-ing his Chihayaburu skill to launch himself into the air, before performing special Midare Ranzan plunging attacks that cause AoE Anemo damage. He's a little like Xiao, but a lot more chill than constantly hopping up and down like a demonic pogo stick.

In this Genshin Impact Kazuha build guide, I'll explain a decent setup you can use with the Anemo swordsman when his rerun is launching, as well as the materials you'll need for his ascension. You might also be curious about Genshin's three new Sumeru characters: Collei, Dori, and Tighnari.

Builds

The best Genshin Impact Kazuha build

Like many Anemo characters, Kazuha is all about using the Anemo AoE damage he gets from his skill and burst to absorb other elements and create powerful Swirl reactions.

Anemo DPS

  • Weapon: Freedom Sworn

This five-star sword is great for Swirl reactions since it boosts elemental mastery as a substat. It also buffs damage by 10 percent, and when the wielder triggers an elemental reaction, it grants a Sigil of Rebellion. You can also gain sigils even if the character with the weapon equipped is not active.

Once you have two sigils, they are consumed, and grant party members 20 percent increased attack, and 16 percent normal, charged and plunging attack damage for 12 seconds—perfect for Kazuha's special Midare Ranzan attack. When these sigils are consumed, you can't get any more for 20 seconds, though, so make it count.

A good free-to-play alternative is the Amenoma Kageuchi. You can craft this four-star sword in-game once you complete the Farmer's Treasure quest, and it's great for energy recharge. When you use an elemental skill you get a Succession Seed, stacking up to three, and once you activate your burst, these seeds will each regenerate six energy, letting you use your burst sooner. It also boosts attack as a substat and has that katana look that fits with Kazuha's style.

  • Artifacts: (4) Viridescent Venerer

This go-to set for Anemo damage-dealers is great for Kazuha. Two-pieces boosts Anemo damage by 15 percent, while four-pieces buffs Swirl damage by 60 percent and decreases an opponent's resistance to whatever element you are infusing by 40 percent for ten seconds. As you'd imagine, this can make Kazuha's reactions pretty darn potent.

For stats, you'll want to prioritise elemental mastery, attack, and energy recharge, and an Anemo damage bonus artifact if you have one. You can also build a little crit rate and crit damage, but it won't offer much value considering elemental reactions can't crit, and that's a lot of what you'll be using Kazuha for.

How to unlock

How to get Kazuha in Genshin Impact

Kazuha is one of the first banners in Genshin Impact 2.8 and will be available from July 13. His banner is appearing alongside Klee, and both banners feature the new character Heizou as a boosted four-star. Kazuha will be available for three weeks and after that, he probably won't be available for another year at least, so now's the time to get him if you want him.

Swipe to scroll horizontally
Normal Attacks: Garyu Bladework
Normal attack:Perform up to five consecutive strikes
Charged attack:Consumes a set amount of stamina to unleash two powerful sword strikes
Plunging attack:Plunges from mid-air, damaging any foes in the way and dealing AoE damage on impact
Ranran Haishi plunging attack:Triggered by Kazuha’s Elemental Skill Chihayafuru. Turns plunge attack damage into Anemo damage and creates a wind vacuum that draws nearby enemies closer
Swipe to scroll horizontally
Elemental Skill: Chihayafuru
Press:Creates an Anemo vacuum that pulls opponents in before launching them away and dealing AoE damage. The launch pushes Kazuha into the air. Initiating a plunge attack within 10 seconds of using the skill activates Ranran Haishi, and this can be done from mid-air.
Hold:Same attack, but charges the vortex to deal more damage
Swipe to scroll horizontally
Elemental Burst
Manyou no IttouKazuha dashes forward and delivers a powerful Anemo strike that deals AoE damage and generates Ruka Akino, a field that deals additional Anemo damage at set intervals. If enemies are afflicted with Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo, Manyou no Ittou deals additional damage of that elemental type.
Swipe to scroll horizontally
Passives
Matsukaze Karyuu:Decreases sprint stamina consumption by 20% for the party. Cannot be stacked with other, similar passives.
Weathering Blade:If Chihayafuru connects with enemies afflicted with any other element, it deals 200% damage of that same element in plunging damage.
Windsong Poetics:When Kazuha triggers a Swirl effect, it increases party member Elemental damage by 0.03% for every point of Kazuha’s Elemental Mastery. This can stack with other, similar effects.
Swipe to scroll horizontally
Constellations
Senzan Kouhen:Decreases Chihayafuru’s cooldown time by 10%. Activating Kazuha’s Elemental Burst resets the cooldown timer.
Yamaarashi Zansin:The Ruka Akino field increases Elemental Mastery for Kazuha and all party members in the field by 200. This won’t stack with other Elemental Mastery effects.
Fuushuu Kitan:Increases Chihayafuru’s level by three with a maximum of 15.
Oozora Genpou:When Kazuha’s Elemental Energy is below 45, Chihayafuru regenerates three energy (press) or four energy (hold). Gliding will regenerate two Energy.
Bansei no Shuu:Increases Manyou no Ittou’s level by three with a maximum of 15.
Ketsuseki Haku:Using Kazuha’s Elemental Skill or Burst increases his Anemo power. Each point of Elemental Mastery will increase all Kazuha’s normal attacks and Ranran Haishi by 0.2%.

Kazuha Ascension materials

Character

For Kazuha's character ascension you'll need Vayuda Turqoise, and it's best to get this from the Maguu Kenki boss in Inazuma, as this also provides the Marionette Cores you need. There are also two world materials:

  • Sea Ganoderma
  • Treasure Hoarder materials

Sea Ganoderma are water plants that can be found all over Inazuma, and you can see their exact locations on the official Genshin Impact map. Treasure Hoarder materials come from defeating the Treasure Hoarder enemies that are found in Liyue and Mondstadt. A good way to farm these is through the Blossoms of Wealth and Wisdom, since they also reward you with Mora and EXP materials at the same time.

Talent

Here are Kazuha's talent ascension materials:

  • Diligence scrolls
  • Treasure Hoarder materials
  • Gilded Scale
  • Crown of Insight

Diligence scrolls come from the Taishan Mansion Domain on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while Treasure Hoarder materials are rewards for defeating those enemies on different world levels.

The Gilded Scale is a reward for defeating the Azdaha weekly boss you unlock through Zhongli's character quests, but it can also be crafted with Dream Solvent and any of the boss's other materials. Finally, the Crown of Insight comes from seasonal events like the recent Lantern Rite, and from levelling the Sacred Sakura in Inazuma, and Dragonspine's Frostbearing Tree.
