Sure, I'll be a hyper-violent cat kickflipping with a weaponised hoverboard

I know it has fans but Stray is one slow-paced game. Are future cats really going to be so boring? The anarchic cyberpunk kitty at the heart of Gori: Cuddly Carnage goes in completely the opposite direction: here's a foul-mouthed moggy ready to slice-and-dice hordes of mutated toys with a ridiculously weaponized hoverboard.

F.R.A.N.K.'s the name of the death-dealing hoverboard, and slaying what's called the Adorable Army is the game. A bunch of mutated, bloodthirsty toys that have caused utter chaos, all the humans dead and it's up to Gori, who's feline fine about hacking through some overpriced trinkets.

Developed by Angry Demon Studio and published by Wired Productions, Gori: Cuddy Carnage's latest trailer showcases new gameplay, combat and hoverboard abilities, as well as some new environments. The game is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and was awarded an Epic MegaGrant, which may or may not be down to how adorable the protagonist is.

Gori is named in the same knowing manner that Rockstar's Manhunt was. This is a cute furball at the core of some ultra-violent thrills, conker with some real nuts, and is walking this fine line between disturbing and sweet kitties. Unless you don't like cats or ultra-violence, in which case what's wrong with you?

Or cool neon skateboard weapons. I mean what the hell is that thing? This cat's Marty McFly-ing it around enemies then turning into Dante when required, then taking off to hoverboard around like it ain't no thang. Visions of the future are often quite depressing, and I suppose in this particular scenario humanity seems mostly dead.

But by god it seems like a good time, no. Jet Set Radio with a slightly genocidal but cute cat. Having said that, all the cats I've ever lived with were also basically killers of smaller creatures whenever the opportunity arose, so who am I to call this science fiction?

John Kalderon, CEO at Angry Demon Studio promises an "action-packed and foul-mouthed game, stuffed with intense destruction and brutal combat", which is meowsic to the ears of anyone starved of decent hack-and-slash games over the last decade.

Paws crossed for this one, because not since the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch have I purr-used such a display of animalistic death-dealing. The game is scheduled for release in 2023, and you can keep up with Gori on the Discord, wishlist it on Steam, sign up for the limited closed BETA, and check out the facebook or official website here
