Cherry Falls came out after the new slasher cycle came into being with a modest nod to the meta Horror trend of the late 90's and with attention to good production while still being a fun Horror movie. As the 2000's would go on, everything became mega gory or super realistic. Cherry Falls really isn't either of those. In fact I found it difficult to get into at first because I was used to a being overly stimulated by pictures that would come out around the same era. By the end of the picture and with a subsequent viewing, I found things to love about the movie.
Cherry Falls has a strong Horror cast with many familiar faces. Of course Brittany Murphy is the female lead who has never struck me as a top notch actress, but who can absolutely carry a slasher flick. Michael Biehn is the town's sherieff which pretty much sums up how I see Biehn in every movie he stars in sans the original Terminator (even though there's kind of a sheriff-like quality to his performance in that picture).
This disc has a good extra package with a new commentary from the director and a couple new interviews to balance the archival interviews, script, trailer and behind the scenes footage. The new art work is definitely an improvement on the original, uninteresting "floating heads" cover. The transfer looks good, no complaints here though I am unable to compare it to a previous release, having never seen it before this release.

From Scream Factory:
A serial killer is stalking the peaceful town of Cherry Falls. At first, it seems that he is just targeting teenagers, but after the third killing it becomes clear that all the victims have been virgins. When the town's students hear about this, they realize that there is only one way to protect themselves and begin planning a "Pop Your Cherry" party where they will all lose their virginities together. Meanwhile, Jodi (Brittany Murphy, Clueless, Sin City), the virtuous daughter of the town's sheriff (Michael Biehn, Aliens, Grindhouse), decides to take matters into her own hands and trap the killer herself.
This chiller is directed by Geoffrey Wright (Romper Stomper) and co-stars Jay Mohr (Hereafter, Jerry McGuire), Gabriel Mann (The Bourne Supremacy) and Candy Clark (The Blob, Amityville 3-D).
