V/H/S and V/H/S/2 DVD Giveaway!!!

Let’s celebrate the Halloween season with a giveaway. What are we giving away? Three lucky winners will become owners of both V/H/S and the recently released sequel, V/H/S/2 on DVD. Haven’t seen either one yet, but intrigued by the advertising? This is your chance to become an instant fan and own both anthology horror movies. Wanna know more about each of these releases?

Check out my reviews of V/H/S and V/H/S/2. Spoiler Alert for the Review: I friggin love these movies. Both of them (yes BOTH of them).

 To enter this giveaway:

First like DOCTERROR’s Facebook page and V/H/S/2 Facebook page. Next comment below with your email address and your favorite VHS movie cover (including link to a picture if so desired). I will choose three winners Friday October 4th and will let them know via email. I’ll have to collect your address at that time to mail the movies.

I’m a huge fan of both releases. If you loved the original, the second one is equally good if not better. Despised the first one? The second one is getting rave reviews including my personal rave review. Even folks who didn’t like the first one release seem to really enjoy V/H/S/2.

Thanks to our partners at Magnolia for allowing us the opportunity to put this excellent release in the hands of the fans.

  2. My favorite VHS cover is probably for ALICE,SWEET ALICE with the mask and the shopping bag. It scared me for years as a kid, and still bothers me if I'm honest. It's just creepy. The film is equally awesome. Derekbotelho@gmail.com

  13. chansegierbolini@yahoo.com I absolutely loved the first one's cover. It caught my eye and when I looked closer, I was like "Wow, that's pretty sick." It doesn't come off as cheesy. Oh, bonus, love the The Death Set song at the end of the first film because it closes it with a touch of badassness.. http://www.comicsbulletin.com/main/sites/default/files/covers/VHS%20poster.jpg

  14. WeirdArchives@prodigy.net The first V/H/S cover was nice, but this one is bit more daring with its use of video tape on a red background. I can't wait to see what they'll use for V/H/S 3 (and they better use the S-V/H/S term this time.).

  29. I remember being drawn to the cover of Xtro as a child ... I was 10 years old and really starting to get into horror movies. I would go over to my friends house who was a bit older ... he had an amazing VHS collection of horror movies. We were flying through movies like C.H.U.D., the Stuff, Martin, Basket Case. But Xtro always stuck out to me. There was something about the boy standing so comfortably next to the alien. Plus, it was a great counterpoint to E.T. mania which was in full swing at the time. I guess the point of VHS box art was to get people to pick up the tape. And this got me to almost every time. http://dirtyhorror.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/cover1.gif ~ Thanks for the great contest! ctek721@hotmail.com

Personally, I cannot pick between the two, because one has a much more "dark" feel while the other goes after the red signifying a much more "bloodier" look. I guess I would go with the first one, only because it was the original.

My favorite VHS movie cover is the old school Evil Dead VHS. I remember when I was 16 walking through the video store looking for a movie to rent, that one stuck out to me in a big bad way. It just looked so terrifying and intense. It's my favorite horror flick to this day.

  63. I liked both movies, too! Some segments were, naturally, better than others, but overall, a great series!

The cover for Slumber Party Massacre is perfect. It's got everything you expect to see from a horror movie-- http://www.critcononline.com/images/slumber%20party%20massacre%20embassy%20vhs%20front.jpg

Of the two VHS movies, I prefer the original. It's hanging on the wall in my apartment!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I haven't seen either film, but I've been told by many friends that I would love it, so I am intrigued.

And, it's not a horror film, but the cover for Flowers in the Attic used to scare the hell out of me as a kid. I'd go to the video rental place as a kid, looking for scary movies, and Louise Fletcher's face would follow me around the room. The box alone kept me from seeing the film until I was 17.

  67. It isn't a outwardly gruesome cover, but one of the first ones that came to mind, that truly piqued my morbid curiosity and made my overly active imagination run was, Parents ( http://www.horrorhostmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Parents-Bob-Balaban-EEUU-1989-poster001.jpg ). This movie cover was uncomfortably wholesome in a Father-Knows-Best sort of way.

  70. One of the first horror movie VHS covers that I saw when I was very young that still sticks out in my memory to this day is Silent Night, Deadly Night. I remember always seeing it on display and I was never allowed to rent it. I remember hearing stories about people tried to get this movie banned when it first came out because they didn't want it to ruin kids image of santa claus. I mean, LOOK at this.
